The 9’x15′ Low Speed Wind Tunnel provides customers with a facility capable of testing large scale aeropropulsion hardware.

  • Combustion Air Heater: 15 pps at up to 1,000 °F and 25 pps at up to 530 °F
  • Exhaust: 16-in. line at 20 and 26 in. of Hg
  • High-Pressure Air Storage: 951,000 scf at 2,600 psig
  • GH2 Fuel System: 1.0 pps at 2,200 psig from 70,000 scf trailers
  • Model Cooling: Available
  • Model Hydraulics: 15 gpm at 3,000 psig
  • Fan Drive Rigs: 1,000 and 5,000 HP Single Shaft Systems and 750 HP (per shaft) Counter-Rotating System

Model Support Systems

  • Dynamic Actuation System: A high speed model support and actuation system to provide realistic simulations of STOVL aircraft takeoff and rolling landings
  • Rotor Alone Nacelle System: Side wall mounted test capability to enable isolation of fan alone noise by elimination of outlet guide vanes
  • Model Integrated Support System (MISS) – A ceiling strut with high-pressure air and exhaust lines and 4 degrees of freedom: pitch, yaw, roll, and height
  • Turntables: Floor mount model support systems with high-pressure and exhaust capability
  • Jet Exit Rig: Ceiling mounted strut with hot gas capabilities for nozzle research
