Title of logo/patch: NASA Pathways Agency Cross-Center Collaboration (PAXC) T-shirt design

Designer: Loren Newton

Year it was designed: 2017 (the night of June 20, 2017 to be exact!)

Explanation or story behind the logo/patch: PAXC is a student-run effort between the NASA Centers to encourage communication and networking between each Center’s intern populations. This logo represents the heritage of NASA, with aeronautics represented by the Bell X-1 to the right and astronautics represented by the Space Shuttle to the left — both vehicles on the patch were selected, not at random, for bearing rich histories on our very own dry lakes. The crossing flight paths aim to represent PAXC’s goal of getting interns to “cross paths” as their careers lift off. This design was submitted to a June 2017 call for t-shirt designs; the designer simply submitted to make sure that Armstrong was represented in the contest. After receiving overwhelming support it was elected the winning design.
