William L. Othon – NESC Academy Biography

Bill Othon is Associate Chief of the Aerosciences and Flight Mechanics Division at NASA Johnson Space Center. His group is responsible for development of Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems for human spacecraft including Space Station, Orion, and Exploration Programs.

Bill is also the project lead for the Integrated Power Avionics and Software development environment. iPAS identifies maturing spacecraft technologies and evaluates them within ground-based vehicle emulators including engineering and operations elements.

Previously, Bill was the Software Architect for the NASA Constellation Program, and was the Integrated GN&C team lead for the Orion project. Bill has been at JSC for nearly 30 years, and involved in both spacecraft operations and technology development projects. Bill has a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
