Astronaut Mike Fincke shares the story of his extraordinary six-month stay in space with NASA employees at a recent gathering at NASA Headquarters in Washington. Fincke served as flight engineer on the International Space Station for six months in 2004 as part of the Expedition 9 crew. He described the mission's spacewalks and maintenance tasks, noting that fixing things in space will be key to making the Vision for Space Exploration a reality. Fincke also spoke of the joy of looking at Earth from orbit and another joy that is truly unique to him. During his mission, Fincke's wife gave birth to a daughter, making him the first person to become a Dad in space.
