Human Health and Performance Deputy Director

Rebecca Tures currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Human Health and Performance (HH&P) Directorate.

Education

Ms. Tures holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.

Experience

Ms. Tures joined HHPD in 2017, where she most recently served as the Associate Director. Previously she was Chief of the Space Medicine Operations Division, leading the team responsible for providing medical operations expertise and medical care for NASA’s human space programs, along with managing occupational health services for Johnson Space Center and White Sands Test Facility. Prior to her time at HHPD, Ms. Tures held several technical leadership and managerial roles in the International Space Station (ISS) Program underscoring her dedication and proficiency in managing complex technical challenges and ensuring mission success. She served as On-orbit Engineering Manager in the ISS Vehicle Office managing the ISS Mission Evaluation Room (MER) personnel, processes, and facilities. She contributed as the Sustaining Engineering Manager for the International Partner provided Nodes, Cupola and Permanent Multipurpose Module. Additionally, Ms. Tures held the position of ISS Safety Technical Lead in the ISS Safety and Mission Assurance/Program Risk Office managing Safety Review Panel processes and personnel. Before joining NASA, Ms. Tures’ career in the aerospace industry included notable roles as an ISS Mission Evaluation Room Manager and Boeing Launch Package Manager for STS-104/Flight 7A. She began her career as a Biomedical Engineer supporting shuttle flight operations and early space station medical systems and operations development.
