NASA Acquisition Innovation Launchpad Program Director, Office of Procurement
Brittney Chappell is the NASA Acquisition Innovation Launchpad (NAIL) Program Director. In this role, she provides program oversight and direction for the NAIL, while championing efforts to develop a culture within the NASA acquisition community that’s receptive to acquisition innovation and manages risk to improve mission outcomes and enhance awareness and adoption.
Previously, Ms. Chappell served as a Senior Procurement Analyst for NASA where she provided IT acquisition policy support for the NASA Enterprise within the Senior Procurement Executive Office. Before joining NASA, she served as the Director of the Office of Acquisition for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Technology Transformation Services (TTS), where she provided leadership and oversight of TTS’s procurement functions, policy, and initiatives. Ms. Chappell also served as the Acquisition Team Lead over the Department of Transportation, IT Acquisition Center of Excellence (IT ACE) where she was responsible for standing up the division to support the agency’s IT shared services initiative, aligning with its Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) goals. Prior to DOT, she was a Senior Contracting Officer at GSA in the Federal Systems Integration Management Center (FEDSIM) division and provided assisted acquisition services for major Department of Defense IT requirements.
Ms. Chappell also completed an extensive detail assignment as a Contracting Officer for the Executive Office of the President. She is a graduate of the Digital IT Acquisition Professional Training Program, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA’s) Executive Leadership Program and holds a master’s degree in business administration from George Mason University. She also has received numerous awards to include the DOT Administrators Award for Excellence and the Multiple Award Government and Industry award for Acquisition Excellence.
Ms. Chappell lives in Washington, D.C. but she is a North Carolina girl at heart. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her doggie, Ida B. Chap and cheering on her favorite sports teams (Carolina Panthers, Duke Blue Devils, and East Carolina Pirates).
