The History of NASA Wallops is focus of lecture March 13 at Visitor Center

The NASA Visitor Center will kick-off a lecture series in recognition of Wallops Flight Facility’s 70th Anniversary with a presentation titled “Revisit the Past,” at 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 13.

During the presentation, T.J. Meyer from Wallops will discuss the facility’s 70 years of history with an emphasis on the role of the Navy and the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in shaping and advancing the facility’s future.

The presentation is the first in a series that takes a look at Wallops’ past, present and future. Wallops Deputy Director Bruce Underwood will present on Wallops current activities April 10 and Wallops Director Bill Wrobel examines the future during a presentation May 1.

The lecture series leads up to a public open house of the Wallops Flight Facility scheduled June 27.

The lecture series is free and open to the public. The NASA Visitor Center, including the gift shop, will be open from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each lecture night.

The NASA Visitor Center, located on Va. Rt. 175 about six miles from U.S. Route 13 and five miles from Chincoteague, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
