The public is invited to learn about “Safe Swimming and Pollution Reporting with Free Apps!” at a Science on the Shore event from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursday, May 21, at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center in Virginia.
Have you ever wondered if it’s safe to swim at a particular beach or have you been looking for a way to report trash or construction runoff at your favorite swimming hole?
Kathy Phillips, Assateague COASTKEEPER and Executive Director of the Assateague Coastal Trust, will answer these questions and more in her presentation about the free Waterkeeper SwimGuide and Water Reporter apps.
The event, which is free and open to the public will be held in the Visitor Center auditorium.
The Science on the Shore is a collaborative effort of NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Nature Conservancy and the Eastern Shore Community College.
The NASA Visitor Center, located on Va. Rt. 175 about six miles from U.S. Route 13 and five miles from Chincoteague, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
