NASA’s Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Program will be holding a capstone presentation on July 30, 2015, for the public to listen and interact with the program’s current interns. The event will consist of 14 high school students and 10 college students presenting their goals and the outcomes of their efforts. In addition to the summer interns, the program’s year round interns will also be presenting their accomplishments from the past year.
NASA’s IV&V Program annually hosts a summer internship program, which provides high school and college students an opportunity to get involved with IV&V’s mission efforts. Since its inception in 1995, IV&V’s Internship Program has hosted over 310 students. With students in high school and college, the internships target those with high interest in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), education, and business careers. Each student is paired with a volunteer mentor and works on their project under the mentor’s guidance. As part of the internship, interns will present their projects and the resulting outcomes.
This event is open to the public and will be held on the 5th floor of 5000 NASA Boulevard in Fairmont, W.Va. The presentations will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m., EDT.
Some of the interns’ mentors will be present and available for comment before and after the presentations for individual interviews. Media should contact Bailee Miller by 4:30 p.m. July 27, 2015 to request an opportunity to speak with mentors.
