Media representatives are invited to attend a one-day event featuring a preview of the Leading Edge Asynchronous Propeller Technology (LEAPTech) project. This project will investigate the use of electric power to allow for tighter propulsion and airframe integration to improve aerodynamic efficiency and flight safety. Highlights will include demonstrations of the LEAPTech testbed and a behind-the-scenes tour of NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base. The event takes place May 12, 2015.
This event will give journalists and social media users an opportunity to learn more about past, current and future NASA flight technologies that have influenced and revolutionized the aviation industry. In addition to interactive briefings, participants will also tour NASA Armstrong to visit aircraft and support facilities. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of aircraft crew, engineers and pilots involved in the research process.
Other items featured in the program will include:
- LEAPTech briefings and discussion
- Observing a LEAPTech test run on Rogers Dry Lake
- Learning about cutting edge NASA-developed technology
- Briefings on NASA Armstrong’s latest test projects
- Visiting the Sub-Scale Aircraft Lab, where scale-sized aircraft concepts come to life
- Visit the Air Force Flight Test Museum
