News media representatives are invited to attend an educator workshop commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope. The event takes place at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center Building 703 in Palmdale, California, on Thursday, April 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The event will give journalists an opportunity to experience a NASA educator workshop along with 50 local K-12 educators focusing on the history and impact of the Hubble Space Telescope. Additionally, the workshop will explore the complementary relationship between Hubble and NASA’s other observatories, including the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, or SOFIA.
Other items featured in the program will include:
- An interactive presentation and “Build Your Own Telescope” activity with SOFIA scientist, Dr. Eric Becklin
- An opportunity to meet local educators at the workshop
- A tour of the SOFIA aircraft and instrument labs
- The chance to speak to SOFIA staff, pilots, and aircraft crew
U.S. media interested in participating in the workshop and hangar tour should contact Kate Squires at the Armstrong public affairs office no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at 661-276-2020, or kate.k.squires@nasa.gov.
