Media are invited to attend a tour Feb. 2 of Marshall Space Flight Center programs and projects contributing to NASA’s mission of space exploration and steps on its journey to Mars.
Marshall Center Director Patrick Scheuermann and Deputy Director Teresa Vanhooser will be available for questions about Marshall’s involvement in NASA’s exploration objectives and how they are supported in the president’s fiscal year 2016 budget proposal, which will be presented Feb. 2.
Events begin at 12:30 p.m. CST at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, where media may watch a live televised address by NASA Administrator Charles Bolden on the state of the agency from Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Bolden will be joined by Kennedy Director Bob Cabana for the address which will be carried by NASA TV and available at:

Media who want to participate in the Marshall Center tour should wear flat-soled shoes and arrive no later than at 1:15 p.m. at the USSRC. They will be joined by NASA Social participants and travel by bus to Marshall.
The tour will include a look at work under way to develop the sophisticated flight hardware that mates the core stage of the Space Launch System heavy lift rocket with other stages, and an opportunity to interview researchers working on the Advanced Life Support Project who are working to increase the reliability of life support systems and improve crew oxygen recycling to enable future deep space missions.
At 3 p.m., NASA Chief Financial Officer David Radzanowski will hold a FY 2016 budget teleconference from Washington. Media may participate in the pressroom of Marshall’s Building 4200.
