The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center and its partner the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation will host an Astronomy night from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 23, with an exploration of Earth’s Moon, the Milky Way and constellation tours of the night sky.
“The astronomy nights have been extremely popular with stargazers the past two years. We are very excited to resume this star gazing adventure with the first event in 2018,”said Kim Check, NASA Visitor Center director.
The event begins with an astronomy presentation in the Visitor Center’s auditorium at 7 p.m. followed by night sky observations through telescopes on the grounds of the Visitor Center from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Constellation tours of the night sky will be offered from 8 to 9 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. The astronomy presentation will take place regardless of the weather conditions. However, the telescope viewing and constellation tours are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
The NASA Visitor Center, located on Va. Rt. 175 about six miles from U. S. Route 13 and five miles from Chincoteague, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
