Get Ready for the Solar Eclipse

Join Susan Rolke and Raven Groblewski to learn about the April 8 Solar Eclipse. This April presents an exciting opportunity to see the Sun eclipsed by the Moon. The next solar eclipse visible from the U.S. will be in 2044. The presentation will have visuals and hands on models of the Earth and Moon to help individuals understand why an eclipse does not occur every month.

Wonders of the Solar Eclipse

Are you ready for the solar eclipse? Do you know what to expect? Do you know how to view one safely? Please join us for a family-friendly presentation by Keene Amateur Astronomers. Susan Rolke will discuss the relationship between the Earth, Moon, and Sun that causes a solar eclipse and explain why an eclipse is rare. Information on how to safely view the Sun directly and indirectly will be provided as well as information on how to participate in a Citizen Science project. Susan Rolke M.S., teaches chemistry, physics, and astronomy at Conant Middle High School. She participated in NASA’s Airborne Astronomy Ambassadors program and is an eclipse expert. She was selected to be part of the NASA Partner Eclipse Ambassador Program to provide outreach to communities off the path of totality.
