NEX is a collaborative supercomputing and data analytics platform that improves the availability of Earth science data from NASA missions and other sources, models, analysis tools and research results through a centralized environment that fosters knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation.
NEX combines state-of-the-art supercomputing, Earth system modeling, and NASA remote sensing data feeds to deliver a work environment for exploring and analyzing terabyte- to petabyte-scale datasets covering large regions, continents or the globe. By providing data, software, and high-end computing power together, NEX reduces the need for redundant efforts in downloading data, developing pre-processing software tools, and expanding local compute infrastructures, while accelerating fundamental research, developing new applications, and reducing project costs.
NEX uses the state-of-the-art supercomputing facility at NASA Ames Research Center’s Advanced Supercomputing (NAS). Prospective users funded by NASA may request access to the computing facility used by NEX at no additional cost.
