Save the Date! NASA Langley Research Center Open House

NASA’s Langley Research Center cordially invites the public to see where aerospace history was made and where the triumphs of tomorrow are taking shape now.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the center’s founding, citizens are invited to enter Langley’s gates and tour unique research facilities including wind tunnels, laboratories and an historic aircraft hangar.
Visitors will be able to see where pioneers from the golden age of aviation forged revolutionary ideas and where America’s original astronauts, the Mercury 7, started their training.
This large-scale open house will showcase contributions past and present while also looking toward the future. For example, today, Langley is making significant contributions to NASA’s Journey to Mars, gathering valuable data on Earth’s atmosphere and developing concepts intended to restore the capability for supersonic flight over land.
The daylong open house will feature facilities tours, lectures, and hands-on activities both indoors and outdoors. There also will be a special “Kids Zone” for our young explorers. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.
The facility today known as NASA’s Langley Research Center was founded July 17, 1917. It is the agency’s first field center and the nation’s first civilian aeronautical laboratory. In its centennial year of 2017, NASA Langley is celebrating its storied legacy and soaring future with special events and activities.
