Juan Torres-Pérez Points at Encrusting Algae Ramicrusta

NASA Ames research scientist and coral specialist Juan Torres-Pérez points at an encrusting algae called Ramicrusta, which has taken over much of this colony of lobed star coral (Orbicella annularis). This colony is part of the reefs in Punta Soldado, Puerto Rico, and is one of the field sites for Torres-Pérez’ marine biology internship OCEANOS.
