View of the approaching space shuttle Atlantis

NASA5-301-029 (May 1997) --- The Space Shuttle Atlantis is seen from the point of view of Russia’s Mir Space Station in this 35mm frame exposed during separation operations. The astronauts of STS-84 and the cosmonauts of Mir-23 had spent several days in joint activities while the spacecraft were docked. The American crew also changed out cosmonaut guest researchers aboard the Mir, replacing Jerry M. Linenger with C. Michael Foale.
