Feb. 25, 2015 — At the Astrotech Space Operations facility in Titusville, Florida, NASA’s Magnetospheric Multiscale observatories, or MMS, enclosed in an Atlas payload fairing, are secured onto a United Launch Alliance payload transporter for its move to the launch pad. MMS, led by a team from the Goddard Space Flight Center, consists of four identical spacecraft that will work together to provide the first three-dimensional view of magnetic reconnection, a fundamental process which occurs throughout the universe.
