At NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Orion’s service module was moved to the lift station inside the assembly bay in preparation for acoustic testing, late May. The service module, which will power, propel and cool Orion in space and provide air and water for future astronauts, will move to the end of the bay where it will be surrounded with speakers and exposed to maximum acoustic levels that the vehicle will experience in space. Orion is a critical part of NASA’s plans to send the first American woman and the next American man to the Moon by 2024.
