NASA Administrator Charles Bolden met with the head of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), President Bai Chunli, on September 23, 2015, at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

Administrator Bolden, along with NASA Deputy Administrator Dava Newman, and President Bai discussed continued cooperation and dialogue in the field of Earth science including space geodesy, coordination of Earth observation data products for glacier characterization in the Himalaya region, and potential cooperation related to China’s TanSat mission, a Chinese carbon dioxide observation satellite planned for launch in 2016. They also discussed the exchange of respective lunar science mission information.
