DHS Escape Respirator Challenge

Description: The Escape Respirator Challenge is a public competition focused on finding solutions to protect end users against aerosolized chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) hazards and provides delivery of oxygen for safe egress from a smoke-filled, oxygen-deficient, and CBR environments. Although commercial solutions exist, they are not small and lightweight enough to be carried in a coat pocket. The challenge asks individuals, teams, and organizations that meet the eligibility criteria to design and develop specialized technology to meet this need.

Benefits of Participation/Awards Available:  The three Finalists will receive an award of $50,000 each to build a functioning sensor according to their submitted proposals. The Winner will receive a $100,000 award.
