Look Inside NASA’s Exploration Mission-1 Rocket
While the outside of NASA’s new deep-space rocket, the Space Launch System often gets all the glory, the inside works hard too. NASA is busy outfitting the rocket with what it needs for Exploration Mission-1, the first integrated mission of SLS and NASA’s Orion spacecraft.
NASA Astonauts Conduct Fourth Spacewalk of 2018
This week, NASA astronauts Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold conducted the year’s fourth spacewalk outside the International Space Station. During the spacewalk, which lasted 6 hours, 10 minutes, the two astronauts installed wireless communications antennas on the Tranquility module, replaced a camera system on the port truss and removed suspect hoses from a cooling system.
Student Launch Teams Rendezvous in Huntsville for NASA Competition
Next weekend, middle school, high school, college and university teams from 23 states will launch student-built rockets in NASA’s 18th annual Student Launch near the agency’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Each rocket is designed to fly to an altitude of 5,280 feet, or 1 mile, deploy an automated parachute system and safely land.
NASA Rover Challenge Strives to Recruit, Inspire New Teams With Educator Workshop
On April 13, NASA’s Human Exploration Rover Challenge will welcome some 30 American educators with no previous “rovernaut” experience. They’re participants in NASA’s Rover Challenge Workshop, seeking to excite their pupils back home at about the competition — and potentially inspiring students to pursue career opportunities in engineering, science and space exploration.
