The Remote Hypervelocity Test Laboratory team has partnered with military and commercial partners and also work in close partnership with the NASA Johnson Space Center Hypervelocity Impact Technology (HVIT) team in Houston, Texas. The HVIT team determines the risk posed by space debris, and designs spacecraft shielding based on probability of impact and spacecraft geometry and sends target shields to us to simulate impact at an identified velocity. Analysis of the damage caused by the impact is used to rate the effectiveness of the shielding and help design better shielding.
