ACERO Featured in Aerospace America Article on Drones in Wildland Fire Operations
In July 2025, Aerospace America published an article describing how the NASA Advanced Capabilities for Emergency Response Operations (ACERO) Project can directly benefit wildland fire operations by providing airspace management in low-visibility conditions. In preparation for the article, the author Jen Kirby interviewed ACERO project manager Min Xue (based at NASA Ames Research Center) regarding the project’s first flight demonstration in Salinas, California. The interview covered the demonstration’s success, the technology maturity level, and how ACERO’s airspace management technology can improve wildland fire operations.
