The galaxies M-81 and M-82 shine against the starry background in this image. It was taken using a 14-inch telescope at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. Eighty-six 30-second exposures were stacked to produce this color image, which covers just over one square degree of sky.
