Lesson Plans / Activities

In these middle school engineering activities, students tackle real-world challenges faced by scientists and engineers. The lessons include educator professional development and student resources.
The science investigations that support the challenge are aligned to Next Generation Science Standards, or NGSS. And the design challenges are based on problems that scientists and researchers at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, are currently studying.
Glenn designs and develops innovative technology to advance NASA’s missions in aeronautics and space exploration.
Current challenges include designing and building a solar-powered pumping station; designing and building a shoebox glider; and creating and testing wheels for Mars.
