Big Explosions and Strong Gravity is a one-day event during which middle school girls learn about astronomy from scientists and engineers. Cadette Girl Scouts can also earn a patch.
During this event, girls explore chemical elements, spectroscopy, supernovas and black holes with a series of hands-on activities and a scavenger hunt. An implementation guide explains how to plan, schedule and conduct the event, including how to find and train volunteers.
