NASA Releases Small Spacecraft Reliability Knowledge Base Tool v3.0

The Small Satellite Reliability Initiative (SSRI), in conjunction with NASA’s Small Spacecraft Systems Virtual Institute (S3VI), has developed the SSRI Knowledge Base (KB) to improve mission confidence for small spacecraft. The SSRI Knowledge Base is a free, pubicly available, comprehensive and searchable online tool that consolidates and organizes resources, best practices, and lessons learned from previous NASA small satellite missions and missions sponsored by other organizations. The SSRI Knowledge Base is updated on a regular cadence with best practices, lessons learned, and unique resources for the 58 topic pages. The Knowledge Base continues to be updated with new enhancements to meet the needs and requests of the small satellite community to improve the user experience and allow for integration of content from various sources.

SSRI Knowledge Base v3.0 was deployed on June 28, 2023. The enhancements featured in this version include: an upgrade to the search bar to facilitate search all content and the addition of fields for each “Best Practices and Lessons Learned” item. These new fields will allow users recommending content to provide more context and detail, and will enable the Knowledge Base to support rich lessons learned content collected by the NASA Learning from Experiences, Achievements, and Resolution Navigation (LEARN) Forum.

Please continue to visit the site and provide feedback; recommend a resource; submit a best practice or lesson learned; and rate existing content. Your inputs to the SSRI Knowledge Base are essential to the effectiveness of the tool and benefit the entire small satellite community.

The SSRI KB Tool is available to the entire small satellite community and can be accessed at https://s3vi.ndc.nasa.gov/ssri-kb/.
