Research Interest

My research interests cover technologies that would enable humans to live in enclosed environments both in spacecraft and here on Earth. These include membranes, sorbents, heat transfer, and materials development, to name a few. Currently, my focus is on developing multifunctional sorbent systems. These systems consist of either 3D-printed or slip-cast sorbent lattices with embedded heaters and sensors for use in removing contaminants from air or water. Additionally, I look forward to applying microfluidics and AI/ML to the Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) environment for future spacecraft missions. On a personal level, I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of scientists and engineers. I believe these individuals will drive the technologies that will be used in planetary missions abroad, as well as enhance the quality of life here on Earth.
