Chief Financial Officer, Goddard Space Flight Center

Sherri Corbo serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). She ensures the financial health of GSFC’s $5B annual budget by leading and managing nearly 600 civil servant and contractor business personnel in the development, implementation, and administration of all Center budgeting, finance, accounting, business systems, financial audits/internal controls, and cost-estimating activities that enable the effective management, control, and reporting of the government’s assets. Before accepting this position in 2020, Ms. Corbo served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) for Resources at GSFC, a position she held since 2010. As the DCFO for Resources, she was responsible for the Center’s budget formulation and implementation activities, as well as the independent program analysis of the Center’s budget.

Prior to joining the GSFC Office of the CFO, Ms. Corbo served as the Business Manager for the Astrophysics Projects Division (APD) from 2005-2010 where she was responsible for the management and oversight of all financial and general business activities for all programs/projects within the division, including the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Program. From 2001-2005, Ms. Corbo supported HST first as Financial Manager and advanced to Deputy Project Manager for Resources where she led and managed the program, planning, and control for HST.

Ms. Corbo joined NASA’s GSFC in 1984 as a co-op student while a senior in high school and has held various administrative and resource management positions throughout her 35-year career.

She has been recognized as a team member in a number of NASA Group Achievement Awards and is the recipient of the Robert H. Goddard Award of Merit and the NASA Exceptional Service Medal for her outstanding performance supporting NASA and GSFC’s Institutional and Programmatic activities and lasting contributions to the Resources community. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland University College.
