Dr. Debbie A. Augustin

Deputy Director, Office of Human Resources

Dr. Debbie A. Augustin is the deputy director of the Human Resources Office at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. She is responsible for helping manage the day-to-day operations of the center’s Human Resources Office.

For seven years prior to joining Glenn, Augustin held various supervisory positions within the Human Resources Office at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. She had oversight for a broad range of human resource management and development functions, including employee and labor relations; training; mentoring; telework and leave programs; retirement/off-boarding; new employee on-boarding; performance management; leadership and supervisor development; organization development; and coaching. Throughout her NASA career, Augustin has also served as a senior internal organization development consultant, leadership coach, coaching program manager, and lead for several agencywide leadership and organization development programs.

Before joining NASA, Augustin held management, consulting, and training positions with organizations such as Kaiser Permanente and the Center for Rehabilitation Research and Education at The George Washington University (GWU) in Washington. Augustin also served as an adjunct professor of human and organizational learning at GWU.

Augustin earned a Master of Arts degree in education and human development with a concentration in rehabilitation counseling and a doctorate in human resource development with a focus in leadership development and organizational effectiveness from GWU. 

Augustin is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including a Center Honor Award for Exceptional Leadership and several Special Act Awards for her role in developing innovative processes related to succession management and onboarding.
