Many devices and machines that run on electricity — for example, escalators, moving sidewalks and elevators — require more or less power depending on the load they are carrying. A NASA-patented voltage controller has been implemented in all sorts of load-bearing electrical machines, providing only the power needed to carry the weight onboard. The device saves power and money, reduces wear and tear and lessens environmental impacts.
