NASA's Curious Universe

[Song: Vast Universe Instrumental by Zachary Scott Lemmon]

Antonella Nota:Experiencing a spacecraft and observatory launch is always an incredible…an incredible feat. You watch this thing lifting off and it’s just saying “goodbye” to your baby.

Antonella Nota:At that point, we’ve done all we could. We can only just cross finger, say everything will be fine. That will be the culmination of all the work for all these people who have spent years to get to that point. I will have shivers down my spine.

Host Padi Boyd: Welcome to NASA’s Curious Universe.

Host Padi Boyd: After years of planning, building, and testing, the most powerful and complex space telescope ever designed will soon launch into space.

Host Padi Boyd: The James Webb Space Telescope is about to embark on a journey like no other. From its final destination, a million miles away, Webb will gaze out into the universe, searching for answers to some of life’s most captivating questions.

Rudi Albat:What makes us human beings? I think it’s curiosity and the capability to learn from the past.

Amber Straughn:Where did we come from? How do we get here? Are we alone in the universe? These are questions that almost everyone asks at some point in their life.

Kenneth Harris:What we hope to learn from Webb is more about our universe, the building blocks of how we got here.

John Mather:The Webb Telescope will attract the attention of everyone because we’re going to discover things nobody ever knew about.

Rudi Albat:We are all composed by stardust. And these new capabilities will bring us closer to the origins of the universe and closer to the origins of life. This is…this is simply thrilling.

Host Padi Boyd: In a special four-part mini series, NASA’s Curious Universe will explore the science, engineering, people, and launch of this historic mission.

Host Padi Boyd: Join us right here as the journey of a lifetime begins.

John Mather:We’ll find out something about all of this and I think we’ll be amazed.
