Welcome Back, STEREO-A

The sun as seen by STEREO in 171 wavelength on July 15, 2015.
After 3 months in safe mode, due to its location behind the sun, NASA's STEREO-A spacecraft is back in operation.

An image of the sun taken with the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager aboard STEREO-A, which collects images in several wavelengths of light that are invisible to the human eye. This image shows the sun in wavelengths of 171 angstroms, which are typically colorized in blue, and was taken on July 15, 2015. Since March 24, 2015, STEREO-A has been on the far side of the sun, where it has had to operate in safe mode, collecting and saving data from its radio instrument. The three-month safe mode period was necessary because of the geometry between Earth, the sun, and STEREO-A. Credits: NASA/STEREO
