Brian Head Fire Update in Utah

Brian Head Fire Utah
The Brian Head Fire in Utah began on June 17, 2017 and was started by human action.

The Brian Head Fire in Utah began on June 17, 2017 and was started by human action. The fire is currently 42,800 acres in size and is 10% contained at this point. The fire is subsisting on timber both litter and understory, and significant dropped needles and natural tree attrition associated with the conifer stands in the fire area.

Serious concerns on the growth of this fire are over weather conditions. Winds will become southwest on Monday the 26th and increase between 10-15 mph with gusts over 25mph. These winds coupled with above normal temperatures in the mid 70’s to near 80 and relative humidities between 10 and 15 percent will result in Red Flag conditions. There will also be a slight chance of high-based thunderstorms in the afternoon which will be capable of producing gusty and erratic winds. The hot, dry and breezy conditions will continue Tuesday through Thursday with wind speeds decreasing by the weekend.
