NASA continued to explore new aircraft designs capable of reducing the noise level of sonic booms by test flying an F-15B modified with an extendable boom on its nose. The Quiet Spike project conducted during 2006-2007 involved more than 50 flights and was a follow on to the Shaped Sonic Boom Demonstration program.
