Engines for early Artemis missions are being prepared for flight at Aerojet Rocketdyne’s facility at Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. New engines to power NASA’s Space Launch System rocket are already being built for Artemis V and beyond at Aerojet Rocketdyne in Desoto, California, facility, which was recently expanded to ramp up engine production. NASA just completed a series of engine tests a Stennis that includes testing engine parts made with advanced manufacturing techniques that could reduce the cost of each engine by up to thirty percent. A new test series was kicked off at Stennis on Dec. 15, and tests coming up next year will be the first tests with a certification engine that will help NASA and Aeroject Rockedyne certify the new engines for flight.
