Gary Krier made the first flight of the F-8 Digital Fly-By-Wire aircraft. The aircraft used the Apollo 15 command module computer for control as it was the most sophisticated portable digital computer available, with a total memory of 38K, of which 36K was read only. The program led to the incorporation of digital flight controls in newly designed military and civilian aircraft.NASA Photo
