A 5.8-percent Hybrid Wing Model is mounted in the 14-by 22-Foot Subsonic Tunnel at NASA Langley Research Center for acoustics testing.
The model is mounted upside down so the Overhead Acoustic Array can pinpoint noise sources and their intensities on the model, such as the sharp edges of control surfaces and landing gear. There is acoustic treatment on the tunnel floor and around the support system.Credit: NASA/Sean Smith
