Get a Closer Look at Our First Mission to the Sun!

Social media users are invited to apply for access to see NASA’s Parker Solar Probe as it undergoes launch preparations, talk to scientists who study the Sun and its effects on the solar system, and tour NASA scientific and engineering facilities. A mission 60 years in the making, Parker Solar Probe will get far closer to the Sun than any spacecraft has ever gone, skimming right through the Sun’s atmosphere – the region that scientists think holds the answers to many outstanding questions about our star and how it affects Earth on a daily basis. Learn more about the mission at nasa.gov/solarprobe

A maximum of 25 active social media users will be selected to attend this one-day event on March 28, 2018, for an inside-the-gates experience at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

If your passion is to communicate and engage the world via social media – especially about groundbreaking science and extreme engineering – this is the event for you! Seize the opportunity to go behind the scenes to blog, Tweet and post about humanity’s first mission to the Sun at NASA Goddard. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • See NASA’s Parker Solar Probe from outside the clean room where it’s undergoing launch preparations for its July 2018 launch and tour the testing facility
  • Learn about the mission and explore the science of space weather
  • Find out how and why scientists study the Sun 24/7 with a fleet of satellites
  • Visit NASA Goddard’s immersive video art installation Solarium
  • And more!
