NASA Earth science was all the buzz for a packed house Tuesday night at Alewerks L.A.B. in Williamsburg, Virginia. Rich Moore and Patrick Taylor, two scientists from NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, gave informal talks there as part of a new bimonthly series called NASA By the Pint. Moore discussed how the use of biofuels in commercial aviation could reduce the effects of contrails on climate and Taylor looked at how climate-related changes in the Arctic are affecting the Hampton Roads area. Following both talks, attendees engaged the speakers in lengthy, spirited Q&A sessions. The Alewerks L.A.B., or Little Auxiliary Brewery, is a satellite taproom of the Williamsburg-based Alewerks Brewing Company. Two more installments of the series, which is open to the public, are planned for 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 28 and June 30.
