Environmental Consultation
NASA environmental and cultural resources programs ensure consultation with Tribal Nations is an integral part of NASA’s evaluations of its actions for potential impacts to the environment, cultural and natural resources, and public health and safety. In addition, in response to the Presidential Memorandum of November 5, 2009 (Tribal Consultation), NASA developed its first Agency plan of action to implement Executive Order (EO) 13175. The plan created an Agency Liaison for Native American Consultation and established a process to review proposed NASA rule changes for potential tribal implications. NASA policy names the Federal Preservation Officer the Agency Liaison for Native American Consultation.
