Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) searches for evidence that water persisted on the surface of Mars for a long period of time. Past missions have shown that water flowed across the Martian surface, but it is still unknown whether water persisted long enough to provide a habitat for life. MRO’s instruments analyze minerals, look for subsurface water, traces how dust and water are distributed in the atmosphere, and monitors daily weather in support of its science objectives.
