Title: OA Branch Avionics and Instrumentation branch

Designer: Rosalio “Leo” Salazar

Year it was designed: 2011

Explanation or story behind the patch: The latest version was updated with the new branch name in Dec. 2011. The aircraft is, of course, 837, a very unique F-15 Eagle which represents the experimental side of the branch, the star cluster in the background is from the NASA “meatball” logo and represents space. The background of the patch represents the Avionics side of the branch by using the common display of a standard aircraft ADI (Attitude Director Indicator), which is an instrument that displays artificial horizon to a pilot. The ADI display is colored to indicate the horizon as the division between the two colored segments (blue for sky and brown for ground). The horizontal lines indicate pitch angle of the aircraft commonly referred to as the pitch ladder bars.
