This guide will introduce students to NASA technologies and the process NASA researchers follow to mature emerging technologies to delivering innovative solutions that can improve our capabilities to explore, save lives, and create economic growth.
Three national standards-aligned activities task students with finding innovative ways to use NASA technologies to solve problems within their communities. This challenge encourages creativity and application of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), including the engineering design process.
- Activity One: Explore NASA Technologies– follow the 5E instructional model to explore NASA technologies.
- Activity Two: Propose a Spinoff– work in teams to propose a spinoff of their own using the problem-based learning method.
- Activity Three: Spinoff Challenge– work in groups to develop a prototype as part of an engineering design challenge.
