Image of smoke from wildfires in southwest Kamchatka, Russia was acquired on June 06, 2016, by the Suomi NPP satellite’s Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument. Wildfires have destroyed 437 hectares (1,079 acres) in the last 24 hours in the regions of Magadan, Yakutsk, Amur, Khabarovsk, and Kamchatka (seen here).
