City lights shine brighter during the holidays in the United States when compared with the rest of the year, according to a new analysis of daily data from the NASA-NOAA Suomi NPP satellite by a NASA scientist and colleagues. The scientists found a similar pattern in the Middle East during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The research is based on a new way to analyze satellite of nighttime lights that will allow scientists to observe daily light fluctuation around the globe.
