Blade Dynamics, a tenant at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, shipped it’s first production article, a large blade designed for use on a 2MW land-based wind turbine. The 49 metre (161 ft.) blade, who’s official product name is “Dynamic 49” has been nicknamed “Boudreaux” by the Blade Dynamic. Blade Dynamics, who currently employs about 40 people, is preparing to double in size in the next six months now that their initial production line is operational. The Blade Dynamics team is working to revolutionize the wind energy market by designing a blade over 100 metres (over 328 ft.) in length with substantially lower manufacturing and transport costs.
