Robyn N. Gordon serves as Director of the Center Operations Directorate at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) John H. Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field in Cleveland, Ohio. In this capacity, she manages organizational objectives, direction, resource allocation and overall institutional functions. Gordon also coordinates and integrates activities of the institution, which cross directorate organizations. Additionally, she determines institutional issues that could affect the execution and performance of the Center's commitments.
Prior to this appointment, Gordon held a number of key positions at Glenn. She served as Deputy Director of the Center Operations Directorate, with shared responsibility for managing the Directorate. In addition, she was Chief of the Diversity Management Office where she was the principal advisor to the Center Director in all matters pertaining to diversity management and practices, and as the Chief of the Office of Human Resources and Workforce Planning, advising the Center Director and senior management in strategic human resources programs, workforce planning initiatives, and organization training and development.
Most recently, while in the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program, Gordon completed three detail opportunities. In her role as the Deputy Director of the NASA Safety Center, she assisted with the formulation of the NASA Safety Center, which is now an agency-wide resource for Safety and Mission Assurance. She served as an analyst in the Program and Integration Office at NASA Headquarters, providing analytical support for cross-cutting institutional initiatives at the agency level, and as Executive Officer to NASA's Deputy Administrator supporting and advising the Deputy Administrator on policy issues, strategic policy decisions and mission support initiatives.
Before joining Glenn, Gordon attained a wealth of leadership experience within the field of human resources. While employed at the Cuyahoga County Public Library, she served as the Assistant Human Resources Director and Equal Opportunity Officer; and for nearly 8 years, worked for the City of Cleveland as a Human Resources Administrator, Personnel Administrator and Labor Relations Officer.
Gordon is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree in Operations Management. She also completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is a member of the Junior League of Cleveland, the Society for Human Resources Management, the National Black MBA Association, and the League of Women Voters.
Her professional and personal accomplishments have been recognized by numerous organizations with many accolades, including the following: NASA Group Achievement Award (2009); Glenn Federal Women's Program Supervisory Award (2009); National Women of Color Technology Award for Community Service (2007); and Minorities in Research Science Trailblazers Award (2006).
